OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE DISORDER

OCD is more than being organized or liking things a certain way. It involves unwanted, intrusive thoughts, images, urges, or doubts that create significant anxiety and lead to repetitive behaviors or mental rituals aimed at finding certainty or relief.

OCD can show up in many different ways, including:

  • Contamination OCD – fears about germs, illness, or contamination

  • Relationship OCD (ROCD) – persistent doubts about relationships or partners

  • Religious OCD (Scrupulosity) – excessive fears about sin, morality, or spiritual correctness

  • Harm OCD – fears of causing harm to yourself or others

  • Sexual OCD – intrusive thoughts related to sexuality or sexual identity

  • Existential OCD – distressing questions about reality, existence, or life's meaning

  • Health OCD – persistent fears about illness or medical conditions

  • Pure O – primarily mental compulsions such as rumination, reassurance-seeking, or checking thoughts

In therapy, we'll work to better understand your OCD, reduce the power of intrusive thoughts, and break free from the cycle of fear and compulsions. The goal isn't to eliminate thoughts - it's to help you respond to them differently so they no longer control your life.

You don't have to face OCD alone. Recovery is possible, and effective treatment can help you reclaim your time, energy, and peace of mind.
